Project
In-depth study of the behavioural characteristics of blue and green light emitting inorganic phosphors.
Project goals
The team is investigating organic encapsulated phosphor light emission mechanism, with the goal of stabilising and equalising the performance characteristics of blue and green light emitting inorganic phosphors, while at the same time increasing their brightness and extending their performance life.
The project is expected to have a direct impact on extending the performance life of the inorganic phosphor from the current 3000 – 5000 hours half life to over 10,000 hours.
Funding
Jointly funded by MFLEX and a Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) development grant, as part of the LINK ISD programme. Total project cost is £740,000
