One criticism that can be leveled at some home office machines has been is their size. Although large strides to address this have been made, pSEL™ opens up more opportunities to reduce the footprint of such a machine by facilitating a interface display incorporated into the lid.
The large open space of the lid gives designers the opportunity to use shapes and features to give additional interest to the product. The integrated LCD handles all the heavy duty text and menu settings, but the pSEL™ brings provides an intuitive interface, and effectively catches the users attention if required.
Software driving the display tracks the user's requirements and only displays the buttons they need to progress through to their desired result. Surrounding this are icons showing status and problems, usually hidden from view. Their graphical nature can make things much clearer to the casual user.
The short time required to work the product is perfectly matched to lifetime of pSEL™, the display switches off when not required (any ancillary information i.e. number of copies remain will be routed through the LCD character display).
MFLEX interfaces can be as little as 1mm thin, easily enough to fit into a thin component such as a lid of a scanner bed. The large buttons and graphic nature alters what some see as a set of complex buttons into an attractive and easy to use interface. This display is designed to use our 32 segment standard module, which allows for the icons to be grouped carefully, and leaves enough for an animation to show the machine is in operation
